Viewing Hatchet 3 (2013) (Decker Shado)

Hatchet 3 is Hatchet's horror film from 2013. It chronicles Victor Crowley's continuing adventures and his rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder portrays Victor Crowley while Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanbilt plays Misty.

The strengths of the film lie in the practical effects. In contrast to many contemporary horror films which heavily rely on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly realistic makeup effects and sets, resulting in some truly terrifying scenes throughout the movie.

The cast delivers a solid performance, with Kane Hodder standing out as the most terrifying villain. The dialogue is reminiscent of an 1980s slasher movie. It is witty and hilarious. Additionally, there are certain moments of genuine comedy throughout, which provide a comical (blog) contrast against all of the gut-wrenching action on screen.

Due to the budget being small (1 million dollars) most of the locations are duplicates from previous films. Hatchet 2's boat house was only used once and the rest of the footage feels like it's been reused from earlier films. The Hatchet and Hatchet 2 films may feel like it's a familiar film.

Overall, Hatchet 3 was very enjoyable. I found it to be remarkably similar to other entries in this series. However, Hatchet 3 provided lots of gory thrills and entertaining performances from its actors.
